HOW DID YOU SEE GOD THIS WEEK AS YOU FOLLOWED HIM?

WHAT DID GOD SAY IN HIS WORD?

Opening Question:

When you hear the phrase, “God’s Mission” what do you think that means?

Let’s read Jesus’s calls to mission in our passages from Sunday:

And he said to them, "Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men."

18 And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."

Reflect Together:

What does it mean to be a “fisher of men”? Would you describe yourself that way? Is that something Jesus calls all his followers to?

Jesus sandwiches the great commission in Matthew 28:19-20 with assurances. What are those two assurances (see verses 18 & 20)? How do they relate to the mission Jesus calls his followers to participate in?

WHAT DID GOD SAY TO ME THROUGH HIS WORD?

In these challenging times, we can’t just do mission with a “business as usual” attitude; we have to look to Christ and listen to what he’s up to and how he wants us to join him. How easy or hard to find it to listen to Jesus and receive direction from him? How do you figure out what Jesus is calling you to do?

Sometimes fear and self-doubt hinder us from following Jesus in his mission, and sometimes pride and over-confidence hinder us. Which of those is more challenging for you?

WHAT DOES GOD WANT ME TO DO ABOUT IT?

Do you know what part you have in Jesus’s mission right now? Develop a plan with your home group to discern your next steps. Then work together to provide support in taking those next steps.
