Passage: Romans 3:21-31
Speaker: Steve Hands
Series: Reformation Sunday
This week we celebrate the five-hundredth anniversary of the Reformation. Five hundred years ago Johann Tetzel sold indulgences for the forgiveness of sins saying, “Once the coin into the coffer clings, a soul from purgatory heavenward springs.” On Oct 31, 1517, Martin Luther responded by nailing 95 theses on the door of a church in Wittenberg, Germany, calling for a Reformation. What made him so passionate about justification by faith? What makes the Reformation a watershed moment for the Protestant church? Here we see that since we are justified by grace through faith, we can find unity (Rom 3:21–31).
