Passage: Hebrews 4:1-13

Entering Rest
We often set big goals for ourselves at New Years…and quit. When asked when most people quit their New Year’s goals, a cashier answered, “Most people quit by the third week of January.” Why the third week? “That’s when they stop buying kale.” Similarly we often want to do great things for God, but we also quit by the third week of January. God has great purposes for us. He invites us into his rest, the fulfillment of all of his promises toward us. Yet how do we see those purposes fulfilled? How do we enter into God’s rest? Hebrews 4:1–13 teaches us that by faith, we enter God’s rest together and today with perseverance.
