So what is the church supposed to be? When we planted Living Water Alliance Church seven years ago, we wanted to create a space where misfits fit. Second-generation Asian Americans neither fit in their immigrant (whether Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese or other) culture nor in the dominant world of American culture. Those who grew up overseas felt the tension of their “home” country and their passport country. So we felt called to create a space for those who fell between the cracks of churches in our area. As a result, church was not simply about a place to go on Sunday morning; it was our community and family.
