Honoring Others’ Convictions

Conflict can make us myopic. We focus in on the areas of disagreement, and we want to prove that we are right…and they are wrong. And the greater our diversity, the more areas that we have to disagree about! The church at Rome had many disagreements that threatened to divide the church. How do we navigate differences so that they do not lead to division? Romans 14:13–23 calls us to remember the big picture in three ways. Your brother is bigger than the issues, so walk in love. God’s Kingdom is bigger than your behaviors, so pursue the Kingdom. Your conviction is bigger than my freedom, so live with conviction.
