Obedience feels like a burden. Something inside us hates obedience. We’d rather be the one in charge, doing whatever we want. But when it comes to our relationship with God, we find in the book of Joshua that prompt obedience to God’s Word receives his blessing quicker (Joshua 1:10-11), selfless obedience receives blessings that selfishness would lose (1:12-15), and full obedience gains the life that half-hearted obedience longs for (1:16-18).
