God Coming Home

After the long chapters of description of the commissioning and building of the Tabernacle, the work is completed and the Tabernacle is set up. This leads to the grand finale when Yahweh comes to take up his rest in the Tabernacle, that is, to dwell and to rule among his covenant people Israel. This is what the book of Exodus has been moving toward from the beginning and is one of the major results that God had in mind when he made the covenant with Abraham in Genesis. The Lord brought his people out of Egypt to take them home to the land he promised them. But now he has come ‘home’ and will accompany them the rest of the way.
