Why give?

Giving is a response, a confession, and a step of faith.

  • Response: in giving, we respond with gratitude to the lavish gifts of God for us, ultimately seen in Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 8:9)
  • Confession: in giving, we confess that God is the owner of everything and we are stewards (Ps 50:10)
  • Step of Faith: in giving, we step out in faith and will see that God will cause grace to abound (2 Corinthians 9:6–8, 10–11), to open the windows of heaven to bless (Malachi 3:8–10) and to provide for our needs (Matthew 6:33-34; Philippians 4:19)

Giving funds

General Fund – Provides for all day-to-day activities of the church including staff salaries and benefits, church programming, building and grounds costs, and other operational costs. It also funds monthly support for approximately thirty Wellspring-sponsored international workers as well as funding the Alliance’s Great Commission Fund. Donations to the General Fund enable us to gather each Sunday morning as we foster connections and spiritual growth among our congregation as well as extending our support to international workers around the world. General fund donations can be reallocated if needed with the approval of the Governing Board.

Basecamp Missions Fund – An “above and beyond” fund that supplements the considerable commitments we have made to the efforts of our international workers. Examples of how these funds are used include funding the initial set-up and monthly support for new international workers until they are added into the General Fund budget, supporting international workers who need funds above their monthly support, funding the Greenhouse initiative and international worker interns, humanitarian aid as needed, and additional giving to the Great Commission Fund. The Basecamp Missions Fund’s unifying purpose is its missional focus and efforts to “equip the saints for the work of ministry.” Basecamp Missions funds are only used for Basecamp Missions and are not reallocated for other purposes.

Deacons Fund – Provides support to people in and adjacent to the Wellspring community to meet daily needs such as food gift cards, housing payments support, car repairs, medical costs, or other needs. This fund also provides for gifts at significant times such as a birth, death, illness, or difficult time. The Deacons fund also supports CUHA (Churches United for Hardship Assistance) for the purpose of helping provide charitable care to those in the community without a church home. Deacons funds are only used for charitable purposes and are not reallocated for other purposes.

Seasonal and other funds include Advent giving, Year-end staff gift, Kids’ Camp, Soup Kitchen, Mission trips, and others as needed.
